Most married men have been in your position at one time or another. You want to find something different for you and your wife to do. Something away from the kids, away from work, and basically away from everything else that takes up your time. It is time to get out of the house a bit for some alone time.

My wife and I love trying to get out of town at least once a year. Unfortunately though, with the way gas prices have shot up, you have to find enough spare funds to cover the expenses of getting to your destination. It is a sad situation. I was lucky enough when I was a kid to have parents who loved to travel. In fact, I have been to all fifty states, plus a 4 or 5 countries other than the United States. Now though, driving to Alaska would just be out of question. Especially in the old gasoline mobile home we had that only got 8 miles to the gallon. I did the math and you are looking at just about $2800.00 just to get there and back. I know I am probably in most other people’s situations, being an average middle class citizen. I don’t have $2800.00 and even if I did, you would need money on top of that for activities.

Luckily, most of us have some wonderful beaches nearby. Romantic beach vacations are always enjoyable for couples. It is a great way to relax without spending a whole lot of money.

Instead of giving you only the most popular ones, I would rather give you popular, but also ones that might be fairly close to you as well. South Carolina has a beautiful beach. Myrtle Beach, although it is a tourist city, is not as crowded as some other places. The time of the year I went, I saw lots of fairly inexpensive places to stay that were near the beach and the beaches looked wonderful. Unlike some of the neglected beaches I have seen, these seemed to have very nice pretty sand, and nice colored water that looked inviting to swim in.

Another great beach is Daytona Beach. It is in somewhat of the same vicinity being in Florida, but Daytona is built for tourism. The city is particularly great for people who love Nascar or riding motorcycles. Everyone has heard of the Daytona 500 and there is an annual bike rally down there every year. Even if those things do not appeal to you, you will find that hotels around the beaches take good care of their sand. The homes are very nice in the area as well and the place just seems to be kept up pretty well in general.

You thought I was going to forget about you West Coast folks eh? No, I wasn’t. It is simply hard to choose one with over 450 beaches spanning just California alone. You can pretty much go anywhere near the major cities and find a beautiful beach with high waves. When I went, the water seemed a bit cool for my liking, but you would be amazed at the amount of beautiful people that span the beach. It isn’t a suggestion that you should go be gawking at the young ladies while you are on your honeymoon or out of town with your wife for the weekend. But, it always makes it nice not to have an orca sunbathing 5 feet from you while you are trying to admire the beautiful view of the water and sunsets.

What about the south central folks? I think although the far east and west coasts are very beautiful, that the Gulf of Mexico is underrated. You just have to go to the most prominent areas. I have been in the area to do some fishing in places like Freeport, Texas where they could care less about combing the sand and making sure that there were nice lawn chairs on the beach to lay on. But, Galveston, Texas is a great place to go. It is extremely affordable compared to most places and there is lots to do, even if you do not want to sit all day at the beach. There are a lot of gift shops spanning the length of the island. One of my most enjoyable times was going out on a fishing pier with my wife. We both love the outdoors and it was great just sitting back, drinking a soda, and catching fish.

If fishing isn’t your thing, you do not have to assume that you will be out of luck. The eastern side of the island seems to be the hang out area for most people. The water is often clear in that area and it is nice to be able to just sit on your beach towel for a romantic evening or moon lit walk.

Overall, there are a lot of great beaches you can go to. You do not have to spend a lot of money to get to a nice beach. However, if you are looking for some nicer and very romantic beach vacations to go on, you can look into places like Cancun or taking a cruise to some of the most beautiful beaches in the world. Where you find popular tourist cities, you will often find a beautiful beach to spend time with your significant other at.
